Kids to Christ School

Dominican Republic

Our K-5 school operates Monday-Friday with the mission to provide quality, Christ-centered education and healthy meals to vulnerable children who otherwise have no access to education or proper nutrition. With the power of the Holy Spirit, we believe that we will see the cycle of spiritual and physical poverty broken!

The children we serve live in the city dump just outside the capital city of Santo Domingo. They suffer from severe malnutrition and have limited access to education, as there is an insufficient number of schools in the Dominican Republic to educate all school-aged children, with many those that are operational being overcrowded. There is also strong racism against Haitian refugees, and this extends to their children in schools. Large populations of children, primarily Haitians or Dominicans of Haitian descent, roam the streets and are vulnerable to trafficking and sexual abuse.

We serve the children of Haitian refugees, as well as a small number of homeless and vulnerable children living well below the poverty line. We find that the soil of the hearts of these eager children is good soil for sowing the seed of the Word of God. We hope to teach these children to build the foundation of their lives on Jesus Christ and equip them to reach the full potential God has for their lives.
